In a change to our February 10th Wheelhouse Talk, the Hauenstein Center is pleased to welcome Dr. Damon Arnold as our speaker. Dr. Arnold is the Director of Academic Services at GVSU’s Athletic Department and advisor to GVSU’s football and men’s basketball teams. In his role, he seeks to inspire confidence and encourage educational attainment in his student-athletes. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Arnold is also an author, consultant, and motivational speaker providing training in leadership and motivation to many.
A true believer in lifelong learning, he holds a B.A. and M.A. in Sociology from Chico State University, an M.S. in Sports Psychology from the University of Idaho, and a Ph.D. in Education Administration from Washington State University. Influenced by his experiences of being expelled from two high schools and ultimately graduating from a continuation school, Dr. Arnold understands failure, motivation, and success. His message is simple: “it’s not how you start, but how you finish that counts.” Dr. Arnold has a passion for empowering others and his personal story of struggle, grit, and perseverance epitomizes triumph and the American dream.
